Ground Rules

Community Guidelines

The goal of Sportsvite is really simple. We’re here to help you connect with athletes, manage your teams, games, and events, and find new, exciting ways to stay active. With that in mind, we’ve created some basic guidelines to help ensure everyone’s Sportsvite experience is a good one, and to keep your account from getting removed or locked.THE GOLDEN RULE:
Be respectful, considerate, and use the site the way it was meant to be used.
If you see anyone misusing the site, please don’t hesitate to report abuse. Everything else is outlined below…

Basic Ground Rules

  1. What are Flagrant Fouls and how can I avoid them?
  2. How does privacy work on the site?
  3. Is this site for commercial use?
  4. Okay, so how do I let people know about my league or event?

SPAM, Abuse, and Message Limits

  1. Is what I’m doing SPAM? And How can I report SPAM I see on the site?
  2. Why are there message limits, and how can I avoid them?

Basic Ground Rules

  1. What are Flagrant Fouls and how can I avoid them?
Please refrain from posting anything that could be construed as offensive or inappropriate, including pornography, violent material, hate speech, or anything you do now own the rights to distribute. If you wouldn’t want your mother or your boss to see it, don’t post it. We do understand that things can get intense in the heat of battle, so name calling and disparaging remarks are only acceptable if your opponent really deserves it!
  2. How does privacy work on the site?
Much of what you publish and share on Sportsvite can be viewed by the whole community. This is in the spirit of keeping the site interesting, as well as making it easier to connect with other athletes. If you don’t want certain information made public, either send it as a direct message to the person you wish to contact, or contact us to find out if it can be kept private. We’re happy to help.
  3. Is this site for commercial use?
Sportsvite’s features are meant for non-commercial use, so promoting any unapproved businesses or advertising is frowned upon. However, if you are interested in promoting your league, event, or product, and it is sports related, please contact us so we can help you achieve your goals. If you have something to promote that our community might find useful, we’re more than happy to find a way to work together.
  4. Okay, so how do I let people know about my league or event?
There are ample tools on Sportsvite to help you promote your leagues and events in a way that is fair, orderly and unobtrusive. The first step is to add your league to the league directory or post your event to the community. You can also always post a bulletin about any league or event to help get the word out. If you would like to discuss custom solutions, hit us up and we can figure out how else to work together.

SPAM, Abuse, and Message Limits

  1. Is what I’m doing SPAM? And How can I report SPAM I see on the site?
Spam is one of our top concerns, but we need your help policing it. If you see someone abusing the site, messaging inappropriately, or any other misuse, please report their abuse to us. This will decrease the amount of crap on Sportsvite, and allow us to focus on building better features. If we catch you spamming, we will make an effort to contact you first and ask that you stop, but we reserve the right to lock and/or remove your account at any time. Nigerian scammers beware!
  2. Why are there message limits, and how can I avoid them?
Related to fighting spam, we have a basic limit on site messaging. You may only send up to 40 messages per day to members who are not your friends. You may message friends and teammates as often as you like, but please do not attempt to contact non-friends more than 40 times in a day or we will consider this spam and lock the messaging portion your account. You can still use the site, but will not be allowed to send messages or recruit teammates for 24 hours. We think this is a more than reasonable limit, but if you find it hinders your use of the site please contact us with an explanation of what you’re doing and we’ll see if we can help you out.
